It’s Official: EVO Bites The Dust

We broke the news yesterday that EVO Tapas Lounge was undergoing some changes. EVO and the adjacent night club The Social opened in early May but both have been plagued by less than stellar reviews and word began to leak out over the weekend that the end was near for at least one of the two establishments.  The story was confirmed today with the following post on the restaurant’s Facebook page:  The party IS over for EVO…

We’re going through some changes here at EVO. Starting tomorrow, ownership will transfer to The Social in an effort to unify the building. As a result, we’ll be closing our doors tomorrow and reopening them in the near future with some exciting new features. All the staff here at EVO would like to thank you for coming in and enjoying our food and drinks these past several months. If you’d like to come show support for our fabulous bartenders and servers, we’ll be having a last hurrah tonight, with an extra special farewell trivia starting at 8.

Former EVO partner Todd Nordahl also told Capitol Hill Seattle that he’s retiring from the restaurant business. EVO is the second failure for Nordahl after last year’s demise of the beloved Capitol Hill bistro, Rosebud. The remaining partners in the venture, Alex Garcia and The Pterodactyl Group headed by Laura Olson will reportedly take over the restaurant and make an announcement soon about plans for the space.

We’re guessing and hoping this will include a name and logo change. EVO was probably not the wisest name for a business serving food…to humans.

To be continued…
