No Seattle or Pacific Northwest shows so far…you’ll have to head to Coachella next month or a tiny handful of other shows happening in California and Vegas if you’re a fan of Christine and the Queens, the pansexual French singer/songwriter who also just goes by “Chris”.
Until then, enjoy the latest single….HERE,
HERE, the latest single to be taken from her critically acclaimed second album Chris HERE, which appeared on almost every critics best of 2018 list. About the track, Chris says that “There is an obvious and addictive sensuality to exist only as a voice. You write a tune, and if it’s on blast on the radio, you’re invisible and merely felt, like a virus, like an itch. You’re finally a feeling, something that gets through, that vibrates in someone else’s body. You can choose to be just a hum in the streets, or to become a weapon of subversion – how many times have I been told, I’m not sure I like everything about you, but I love your song? Then, what if the song became the most sure way of making love, without useless taboos and misconceptions?
“Comme si fleshes me out in the most exhilarating way. Since I’m all sounds and words, I finally emancipate. It’s the writing that matters – it always gave me justice anyway. The rhythm pulses like blood under the skin, my voice is very close, unvarnished, like my bare face in the sunlight. This change means a lot. It’s about getting up-close and personal, witty and sexual. I visit someone in the form of a cloud, and there is no need to love me entirely. Comme si is my erotic reverie about the power of pop music as a pure contagion, one that always allow pleasure, no matter the form it takes.”
The release of “Comme si” comes as Christine and the Queens receives her second UK BRIT Award nomination for International Female Solo Artist; and a US GLAAD Media Awards nomination for Outstanding Music Artist.
Christine and the Queens landed her groundbreaking album Chris and multiple singles, “Girlfriend”, “Doesn’t matter”, “5 dollars” on to nearly every “Best of 2018” list: Time Magazine, NPR, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, GQ, Associated Press, Noisey, FADER, Esquire, Refinery29, CoS, The Daily Beast, etc, plus named #1 album of the year by not only The Guardian and Evening Standard, but also The Independent and Clash.
Chris was written, arranged, produced and performed by Christine and the Queens. It is the follow up to her already-iconic debut record Chaleur Humaine, and titled Christine and the Queens in the USA, released to near-universal acclaim in France in 2014 and the UK in 2016, and selling more than 1.3 million copies to date. Also featuring the singles Girlfriend and 5 dollars, and available in English and French language versions, Chris is available in digital and physical formats, including double CD and vinyl versions, as well as limited edition boxsets, courtesy of Because Music.
Chris recently debuted a stunning live session, performed and filmed exclusively for YouTube at Los Angeles’ legendary Capitol Records Studios – watch Chris perform “Comme si”, “Girlfriend”, “5 dollars” and“Doesn’t matter”.
Christine and the Queens returns to the stage in 2019 with her dynamic live performance, kicking off with her first-ever Australian tour, followed by top billing at Coachella and European festivals all through the Summer.
