SEAMEC is a unique organization that has interviewed, evaluated and published election candidate ratings for over 40 years. It is the oldest continuously operating LGBTQ+ rights organization in Washington State. 40 years have passed, yet with recent political events there is a newfound recognition that election outcomes matter, so SEAMEC’s work is now more critical than ever.
To ensure SEAMEC continues this work in the future, we need your support. During an interview in 2014, SEAMEC Co-founder, Roger Winters, talked about the importance of this work, and how, despite the difficulties, seeing the impact SEAMEC ratings had on elections in the initial years after it was founded gave the organization a great sense of pride in the impact on elections.
There are several ways you can help, as both a financial supporter and as a volunteer. Today, we ask for your support of this event to help us move toward our operational goal of $7,500 for the remainder of 2018. We are an all-volunteer organization, so every dollar you donate goes to the operational costs of SEAMEC’s candidate evaluation program, including rent for our interviewing space, publishing ratings, website, and distribution of ratings reports.
We hope you will consider supporting the event as a Co-Host by inviting three friends to attend and making a gift at one of the recommended amounts below. To thank you, your name will be prominently displayed in all event-related materials and we will recognize you during the “remarks” portion of the event.
1977 Founding Triangle Co-Host $750
Dorian Group Co-Host $500
LGBTQ+ Equality Law Co-Host $250
Legislative Ratings Sponsor $100
Local Candidate Ratings Guest $50
Or register on our EventBrite page and make a donation during the event…or….sign up as a volunteer with SeaMec and your registration is free! Either join the SeaMec Steering Committee or those who help with candidate ratings by attending a few candidate interviews this election season.
Thank you, and we hope to see you on September 14th!!
