Help Pass Seattle’s Equality Act
March 13, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Greetings!
Allyship and several other organizations and LGBTQ leaders have been working with Seattle City Council Members Lisa Herbold, Mike O’Brien, Lorena Gonzalez and the Mayor’s office
to support a Seattle resolution/proclamation around LGBTQ rights. It’s called the Equality Act and is connected to the federal Equality Act sponsored by Representative David Cicilline (D-RI) and Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR). LGBTQ Activist/Leader Richard Noble has also played a role in moving forward the federal Equality Act.
The federal Equality Act would amend the 1964 Civil Rights Act to include “sexual orientation, and gender identity” among the categories of prohibited discrimination which now include race, color, national origin, religion and sex.
Seattle, like in so many other ways, is leading this justice work and we hope you will join us on March 13th, 2pm at Seattle City Hall!
Please let me know if you will join us! For more info please email Debbie Carlsen at debbie@allyship.org
