We have given this event a new name as we want to welcome any DAW experience to these sessions. While we mostly teach on Ableton, a lot of the same skills apply across the programs.
We will have this session 2nd Wednesdays from 7-10pm PDT.

Producers of all skill levels are welcome to come share their work, and learn new skills.

*** CLASS STRUCTURE ***
|| Auditioning Songs and Works In Progress for Feedback ||
After 15 minutes of introductions and catching up, we’ll be listening to people’s songs, on a club system, for feedback and encouragement. Sign up to have your song or work in progress played. There is a limit of 5 minutes per song, a limit of 12 songs, and slots are first come, first served.
|| How to Mix Your Song ||
Since we have access to a club system, we can show how mix decisions translate to the club. There will be instruction on tools to use when mixing, and time for questions after each section.
EQ, and how to carve out space for each of your elements in the mix.
Compressors, and how make your mixes sound louder.
Spacial Effects, reverb, delay, and panning
Modulation Effects, chorus, flanger, phaser
Balancing your mix, and A/B with a reference song.
Basic Mastering, and preparing your song for submission to labels and DJs.
You’re welcome to bring your laptop and headphones, and the example song will be available for download beforehand, so you can follow along.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
