The ‘Spirit of Pride Teen Pageant’ offers diverse LGBTQ youth and allies an opportunity to showcase their beauty, uniqueness and creativity in a fun, safe and nurturing space. The pageant does not use categories of “Queen” or “King,” and instead prefers to allow participants to express whatever gender identity they wish.

The pageant strives to create an inclusive performing arts event with categories and judging criteria in which all contestants can excel. Most of all the pageant is focused on creating a family-friendly fun event for everyone. The ‘Spirit of Pride Teen Pageant’ is a partnership between City of Seattle Parks and Recreation, Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, and Nubian Pride Productions.
