The American Superhero – The Vermillion Show!

September 12, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

There is a superhero within us all, regardless of our nation of birth, beliefs, orientation, gender identity, race, abilities, or family makeup. This collection of uniquely American portraits and stories celebrates those differences and highlights our commonalities.

Inspired by New York City-based cartoonist, speaker, and performance artist Vishavjit Singh, aka Sikh Captain America, photographer Nate Gowdy and a merry band of creatives present 35+ everyday superheroes whose stories of resilience and tenderness exemplify life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Included in the exhibit are Seattle drag royalty Aleksa Manila and Gaysha Star, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, Washington State Supreme Court Justice Mary Yu, former Houston mayor Annise Parker, and world-renowned performer BenDeLaCreme with partner Gus Lanza, among many other all-new portraits of folx we know and love!

Come mingle with the team behind the project, as well as those photographed, and stay for dranks from the bar and music from the DJ. Various sized prints will be available for purchase.
