March 14, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm

  • « Scream for Queer Art!
  • Markeith Wiley: Too Much on Not Enough »

Drag queens, comedians, poets—oh my! Lifelong‘s Health Education Youth Outreach (HEYO) program is proud to present “The Big Queer Talent Show.” This all transgender cast of performers—including RuPaul’s Drag Race star Gia Gunn—will produce an evening of stunning performances and heartfelt conversations. Please join us as we shed light on the joys and struggles of queer adolescence and what we, as a community, can do to address the needs of transgender and gender non-conforming youth. The first 50 young people (24 and younger) to arrive at the Vera Project on March 14 will have the opportunity to join a meet-and-greet with Gia Gunn.

Admission is free to the public. This is an all ages and alcohol free event.

Local performers:
Ebo Barton
Max Delsohn
Stasia Coup (Artie Thomas)
Michete

Hosted by: Lilith (Alyx Steadman)

6:00pm – doors open + LGBTQ youth resource fair
7:00pm – start of show
9:30pm – meet & greet w/ Gia Gunn

Lifelong’s Health Education Youth Outreach (HEYO) program is a queer youth sexual health education program that strives to foster a community that prioritizes empowerment, self-determination, and resiliency over stigma, fear, and condemnation. HEYO is contracted through Seattle Public Schools to provide queer-inclusive sexual education. Additionally, the program partners with colleges and homeless youth-serving agencies to provide monthly HIV testing and sexual health counseling opportunities. Past programming includes: The Big Queer Talent Show, Gender Fierce, and more! For more information and to stay in touch, please like HEYO on Facebook or email heyo@lifelong.org.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
