Course Description:
Tarot and poetry speak a language of rich images. This course will introduce you to the basics of Tarot cards and get you on the road to interpreting their symbols for yourself and others. We’ll discuss common myths and helpful practices for working with the 78 mysterious cards. There are patterns and shortcuts to learning the Tarot. Like writing, Tarot requires us to follow our intuition, emotion, and gut instincts.
Prompted by visual images from select Major Arcana cards, we’ll write about certain cards to explore how their themes and characteristics play out in our lives. This class will use a mix of visual slides and tangible objects such as pendulums, practice cards, fabric squares, and sea salt. (No essential oils, incense, or scents will be used.)
You’ll want to bring a pad of paper and writing utensils for notes and freewriting. If you already have a Tarot deck please bring it with you to the workshop! The class includes a brief intermission for stretching and snacking.
Note: I’m a white cis queer woman who incorporates elements of Western European Paganism and Wicca. I identify as a witch.
