Both BROADWAY GRILL and JULIA’S share more then just being on the same block – service at both places at times suffers. Broadway Grill has been considered primarily a “gay” restaurant for over 15 years and has the best patio seating on Broadway. Julia’s restaurant got it start in Wallingford and is popular for its high quality “drag” show events. Neither is consistent in the quality of their food but both are constantly trying to improve themselves. Broadway Grill is worth a visit on a nice sunny day for people watching.
For Asian restaurants on Broadway there is competition from three different pho restaurants. THAN BROTHERS is the longtime award winner but PHO CYCLO has earned a following and recent recognition. PHO 900 is the new kid on the block but has taken off by serving fresh authentic ingredients.
On Broadway many prefer the quality of the sushi at AOKI JAPANESE 
GRILL along with their clean atmosphere but it is far from a bargain. My personal Japanese favorite is HANA, where sushi ranges from $1 – $2 each. Stick to the sushi, and the the la carte menu ($5 – 7.50) of things such as seafood salad (with raw ingredients) and chicken teriyaki don rather then the meals (around $15). The lunch bento is $6.95.
You will find two Mexican restaurants: La Cocina and La Puerta (Formerly Torero’s) right across from each other on Broadway. La Puerta does have a hidden balcony for dining above QFC (Pictured). However, skip them both. Unless it happens to be Cinco de Mayo and your looking for your basic Mexican fare and margaritas. GALERIAS offering “gourmet” Mexican food further down Broadway, is a much better choice.
Both JAI THAI and SIAM ON BROADWAY should satisfy your cravings for some spicy or curry flavored Thai food. However, JAMJUREE on 15th Avenue beats them both.
At the end of Broadway Ave the DELUXE BAR & GRILL has a large gay clientele and serves some decent gourmet burgers.
BLEU BISTRO and CAFE SEPTIEME may also be worth a try if you desire patio seating on Broadway.
Have a few meals on Broadway but you may want to save you nice dining experience for downtown.
