Young Frankenstein opens in Seattle

August 9, 2007• bySeattle Gay Scene

Went to see Young Frankenstein (“That’s pronounced Fronkensteen”) at the Paramount Theater last night. It is an excellent musical rendition of the 1974 Mel Brooks comedy movie. Seattle is the world premiere run for this play complete with the Broadway actors, such as Megan Mullally (Will and Grace), Roger Bart (Desperate Housewives) and Andrea Martin (SCTV) as Frau Blucher. The play will make its formal New York debut in November.
You may want to watch the DVD before you go to see it just to refresh yourself because much of the play is hilariously true to the original movie. It also includes songs written by Mel Brooks, a few new twists and some modern references (also hilarious).
So if you are in Seattle before it ends on September 1, pick up some tickets. It’s a world-class star-studded performance.
