Wanted to briefly mention the new restaurant Boom Noodle at 12th & Pike on Capitol Hill. I did visit it soon after it opened. So much has already been said about this place that you’ve probably already heard it all. Currently, business there is brisk with wait lists in the evening. So whether you live in Seattle or are coming to visit you may want to try it out for yourself.
The Stranger’s Review is pretty accurate except the yuzu lemonade is not all that special. In this blog post Uncle Vinny explains why he is not impressed and the owner responds. People on Yelp.com tell it like it is.

Most of the soups are decent quality and taste good (while not incredible or complex) but the relatively high prices for soup really put me off. Everything is at least $10 and higher and after I had finished my ramen soup I actually still felt hungry. The beef yakisoba had only very tiny bits of beef and the quality and taste reminded me more of the Mongolian Grill buffet. Overall service is attentive but they can be hit or miss simply because they are so crowded and the servers are as new as the customers.
Our bill for two adults (soup and yakisoba) and a toddler (kid’s meal), with tax and tip, was about $40. Expect to pay up here and be sure enjoy the ultra modern wood decor because you’re paying for it. This place will probably appeal the most to people that either don’t eat out very much during the week and value is not their biggest concern. Also people that are afraid to venture into one of those cheap hole-in-the-wall Asian restaurants will be happy at Boom Noodle in their yuppified dining room. Personally, I eat out way too much to plunk out $40 here. However, if Wagamama can get $15 for a bowl of their ramen in London I suppose Boom Noodle is a relative better value./
By the way, I found something at Boom that I really like: the yaki udon. I wrote about it here: http://unclevinny.wordpress.com/2008/01/10/more-and-better-boomage/
Cheers!
Well, Uncle Vinny now approves and says the Yaki Udon is the best. Sounds tasty enough.
