Leave your troubles outside! So – life is disappointing?
Forget it! In here life is beautiful. The girls are beautiful. Even the orchestra is beautiful.
Who could forgot those immortal words by the Emcee in Cabaret? The 5th Avenue Theatre continues to “gay things up” this season with this special presentation of the musical Cabaret, March 25 – April 13, 2008.
The decadent world of 1930s Berlin comes to life in this Tony Award-winning musical masterpiece. CABARET won eight Tony Awards in 1967 (including Best Musical and Best Score) and ran for 1,165 performances. In 1972, the musical was adapted for the screen in one of the greatest movie musical hits of all time, winning eight Oscars, including Best Actress for Liza Minnelli. Well, unfortunately this performance will be without Liza, however, the production will offer a very talented group of actors.
CABARET features Broadway’s Tari Kelly as Sally Bowles. The part of the Emcee is played by local Seattle star Nick Garrison, who performed in Hedwig and the Angry Inch at Re-bar and many other fringe theater productions: Valley Of The Dolls (Empty Space), Dirty Little Showtunes (Re-Bar), and many others. He also appeared in the Rocky Horror Show at the 5th Avenue and the movie Creatures From The Pink Lagoon.
