Mamma Mia is back but just for a short time

March 17, 2008• bySeattle Gay Scene

PREVIEW: Mamma Mia!

MAMMA MIA!, the smash hit musical based on the songs of ABBA, returns to The Paramount Theatre from March 18 – 23, 2008.

Inspired by the story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs, writer Catherine Johnson’s sunny, funny tale of family and friendship unfolds on a Greek island. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. Songs including “Dancing Queen”; “Knowing Me, Knowing You”; “Thank You for the Music”; “The Winner Takes It All”; “Money, Money, Money”; “Voulez Vous”; “SOS” and “Take A Chance on Me” are all featured in this feel-good night of fun and laughter.

With more productions playing simultaneously around the world than any other new musical, MAMMA MIA! is now the world’s #1 show. There are currently ten productions of MAMMA MIA! running concurrently around the world. So of course most of you have already seen it, right?

I was able to see this musical several years ago and it was an immense amount of fun (including an unexpected gay twist in the story) from the very beginning all the way to the fun and glorious encore.

Ticket prices for MAMMA MIA! range from $20 to $77 and are available by calling 206-292-ARTS (2787), at Ticketmaster for a fee, and at The Paramount Theatre Box Office (Monday through Friday, 10am to 6pm).
