Syttende Gay 2008: The Third Annual Syttende Gay promises to be quite impressive with not one, but two events held in Ballard and Capitol Hill.
Every year Ballard celebrates Norwegian Constitution Day or “grunnlovsdag,” commonly known as “Syttende Mai” or the 17th of May. Ballard has the biggest parade outside of Oslo. Jonathan Mathews Design Group, along with The Bal Mar and Purr, will hold a special gay celebration event.
EVENT ONE: THE BAL MAR: 5449 Ballard Avenue NW.
From 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm (Syttende Mai Parade 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm).
Bal Mar is a sleek and edgy industrial venue that provides spectacular views at its street level seating and great panoramic view on the second level. There will be happy hour Scandinavian drink specials offered throughout the day; as well as Scandinavian inspired appetizers being created for this exciting celebratory occasion. DJ Randy Schlager will be spinning his energetic club hits from Norway and Sweden to keep the crowd going.
View the parade on their front patio & upstairs on their 2nd floor. Scandinavian Appetizers, drink specials, club mixes by DJ Randy Schlager, and decor of Norwegian inspiration provided by the Jonathan Mathews Design Group.
EVENT TWO: PURR COCKTAIL LOUNGE: 1518 11th Ave E.
From 9:00 pm – 2:00 am.
Scandinavian inspired drink specials will be offered throughout the evening; and Purr’s own resident Saturday Night DJ will be spinning Scandinavian club hits to entertain the crown late into the night along with decor of Norwegian inspiration provided by the Jonathan Mathews Design Group, give-aways and more!
On May 17th, of course…
Here is the Invitation. They would like people to RSVP for the Bal Mar event so they can get an idea of how much staff they will need.
