In what will hopefully be an annual tradition within the Seattle Gay Scene, Black Party made its mark at Neumos on Saturday, May 24th.
Not too long after 10 pm a large crowd had already formed and by midnight the dance floors was packed with shirtless hunks, and even some twinks, bumping and grinding to the beats of DJ Cary Stringfellow. This is the first time I have seen this DJ and I was quite impressed to say the least.
Throughout the night the DJ kept the crowd flowing and rolling with infusions of popular anthems and a few excellent mixes of some the classics such as Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”
It wasn’t just the fact that this event was crowded but it was the vibe. You could feel the energy and see the enjoyment on people’s faces that I have not seen in a very long time. It was good to see that many within the crowd followed the theme some sporting a black leather torso harness. Unfortunately, my camera battery died before midnight so I only have a few photos from early in the night.
One Degree Events recently abandoned hosting monthly events such as BBar at the Baltic Room in order to concentrate on special events such as this Black Party, the Shameless Party on June 28th and Seattle PrideFest at the Seattle Center. I came out last night a total skeptic but left the Black Party quite impressed and convinced that the Shameless Party at Neumos will be THE place to be on the Saturday night before the Pride Parade.
It was a fun night but the music SUCKED. Black party + whitney & mary j blige remixes does not compute. Keep the music dark & sexy next time & we’ll all be happier & leave the remixes for the tired circuit twinks.
Thanks for the observations!
Truly constructive analysis such as this is always appreciated on here.
Though I don’t think all circuit twinks are tired 😉
