Well check out “Team Works.” For four months you volunteer with a set group of 15 people, one Saturday per month, at a different organization each month.
The tentative schedule for the team is:
Oct 7th – Kick off at Jillians
Oct 18th – 10am-2pm at a community farm
Nov 22nd – 10am-2pm at a community farm
Dec 13th – 1-3pm at the food bank
Jan 10th – 10am-2pm making toys for homeless children
Yes, that’s right. Making toys for homeless children.
How precious is that?
This is a great way meet “nice” people and work with your peers to make Seattle a more vibrant community. It can be hard to make new LGBT friends and expand your social circle so this is a great way to do it outside of the normal channels. Mason Bendixen, is a software engineer, yoga instructor, and an aerialist and he will be leading the LGBT volunteer team and will also be organizing some social events to help people get to know each other better.
