Spotlight Night at the 5th Avenue Theatre returns this Friday October 10 at 7 pm. Two Shows in Three Acts – The Drowsy Chaperone and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Take a peek behind the scenes with a special look at the national tour of the hilarious Broadway smash The Drowsy Chaperone, as well as the new version of the musical comedy classic Seven Brides For Seven Brothers.

A Creative Chat with Bob Martin and Kevin McCollum
Bob Martin co-wrote Drowsy’s Tony Award winning book and performed the leading role of “Man In Chair” in the original Broadway cast. Producer Kevin McCollum is one of Broadway’s leading producers whose landmark productions include Rent, Avenue Q and In the Heights.
Act II Too Marvelous For Words:
The Life And Songs of Johnny Mercer
Johnny Mercer, the lyricist of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, was one of Broadway and Hollywood’s greatest songwriters. With the help of some of Seattle’s best singers the 5th Avenue Theatre will lead you through the astonishing career of the creator of Moon River, That Old Black Magic, Blues In The Night, Satin Doll, Come Rain Or Come Shine and many other immortal classics.
Act III Bless Your Beautiful Hide:
The Story Behind Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
This timeless tale of seven brothers looking for love in the Pacific Northwest first appeared as a short story by acclaimed American writer Stephen Vincent Benet. In this segment they will look at how this story became one of the most beloved movie musicals of all time, and how the classic film came to be adapted for the stage.
