The Seattle Repertory Theatre presents boom, beginning this week on November 13, 2008. Jules is a nerdy marine biologist who is convinced from the actions of his fish that the end of the world is near so he posts an ad on Craigslist, hoping to romance the girl that will help him ensure the survival of the species. But when Jo, a female journalism student, answers his call his plan proves more difficult than he had expected…well, because Jules is gay, though he has never actually been intimate with anybody.
Jules is played by everyone’s favorite local actor Nick Garrison. He recently stared as the Emcee in the 5th Avenue Theatre’s production of Cabaret and is best known and loved for his role as the flamboyant transsexual punk-rocker in Rebar’s production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch several years ago.
boom creator Peter Sinn Nachtrieb is an exciting new playwright from San Francisco with a knack for comedy who has produced some outstanding plays such as the humourous Meaningless back in 2004. That award winning play followed the emotional journey of a gay man who moves to San Francisco in the 1990’s.
Previews for boom begin November 13, 2008. Opening night is November 19 and runs through December 14, 2008.
