Rough Play presents a new take on King Lear

November 20, 2008• byBill W

Rough Play Productions is presenting King Lear through November 30th at Theatre Puget Sound’s Theatre 4, 4th Floor of the Center House at the Seattle Center.

In his madness King Lear is famous for his distrust of women and a taste for getting nude. First performed 400 years ago, the tragedy of King Lear remains one of the greatest plays in world drama. Shakespeare explores the epic human story of blindness, power, blood, and light. Rough Play Productions and Lithuanian-based director Paul Budraitis will be utilizing theatrical techniques such as Meyerhold’s “biomechanics”, Viewpoints, and Suzuki, as well as the extensive use of live music, to attempt their vibrant new take on this timeless classic.

Sounds like quite a challenge for these 14 actors and more than worth the price of admission. Just the addition of music alone sounds pretty cool. Tickets are just $12 in advance. More info available here.
