Legendary Seattle artist Charles “Upchuck” Gerra is the subject of an article in a November issue of The Advocate magazine. By the time “Upchuck” was Eighteen he’d been locked-up in juvenile detention for being gay, arrested for offering to give a blow-job to an undercover cop for bus fare, and formed one of the first punk rock bands on the West Coast. His contribution to Seattle music history are undeniable and unique before he died of AIDS in 1991. Resurgence of interest in his music has followed the rave reviews of his posthumous CD collection UPCHUCK: GONE BUT NOT FORGIVEN everywhere from LA’s PUNK GLOBE magazine to Argentinean music journal LA OTRA.
Seattle writer and NY Times best-selling author Charles R. Cross has this to say about the UPCHUCK album: “This long-awaited CD from the legendary Charles “Upchuck” Gerra finally sets right one of the lost chapters in Seattle’s pre-grunge music era. Essential for anyone who loves punk rock, glam rock, or just groundbreaking music of any genre.”
