Just a couple thoughts, as I was there… 1) Advertise. If you’re going to throw a party, people have to know it’s happening. 2) Playing music off your laptop doesn’t work. You need a DJ. If you want to become a DJ, practice until you’re good enough to spin music.
Thanks for the report. They did not even have a real DJ? Probably Christmas eve is not the best weekend to start this.
No, just a couple of guys playing tracks off a laptop… no mixing or anything; just a dead stop and then the next song. Definitely the 24th wasn’t a good date for a party launch, but besides that, a good DJ seems pretty critical for a dance party. I do think Contour is a good location – it’s a nice club and had a good gay following for afterhours, once upon a time. The club has been updated a bit and is a nice venue.
