Inauguration Day Celebration on Capitol Hill

January 21, 2009• byBill W

Capital Hill, Tuesday, 20 Jan 2009, at 7pm.

From MoveOn.org

Join VamoLa as we drum up a Brazilian-street-style celebration of our new President’s Inauguration! VamoLa, an exuberant Brazilian drum and dance ensemble, will play (and dance) samba in celebration of the Presidential Inauguration, Tuesday, Jan 20th, 7-10pm. In the spirit of “We Are One,” and echoing the spirit of Brazilian carnival, VamoLa will start drumming and dancing (15 drummers, 6 dancers) at Broadway & Pine, at the chrome statue in front of the main entrance to Seattle Community College. After 15-20 minutes there, VamoLa will parade West on Pine for several blocks, then back East via Pike, collecting celebrants as we go. We expect a large, lively group of people grooving to the irresistible rhythm of samba! VamoLa has performed at major festivals, parades, benefits, and venues in the Northwest since 2001.
