Seattle’s MOST FABULOUS Oscar event returns when Three Dollar Bill Cinema and Gay City Health Project host their Fourth Annual Academy Awards Party on Sunday, February 22nd at SoDo Park (3200 First Ave South in Seattle). The event begins at 4:30pm, with a special VIP reception an hour earlier. Tickets range from $20 to $35 and are available now at www.gaycity.org.
“There are some important gay-themed films up for Oscars, including Gus Van Sant’s MILK with eight nominations,” says Fred Swanson, Executive Director at Gay City. “Nobody celebrates the queer community’s presence like Gay City and Three Dollar Bill Cinema.”
Three Dollar Bill Cinema’s Rachael Brister agrees. “Over the past four years, this event has grown into THE place to be on Oscar night.” She adds, “Our new location at SoDo Park can accommodate even more guests, better opportunities for watching the show, and an incredible VIP experience.”
A multitude of viewing options will be presented by event sponsor Magnolia Audio Video of Roosevelt, including an eight-foot inflatable screen with theatre-style seating and four big-screen TVs throughout the stylish setting of SoDo Park.
Also on display will be a Hollywood prop and costume museum from the personal collection of one of the event’s sponsors.
All proceeds from The Fourth Annual Academy Awards Party will benefit the programs and services offered by Gay City and Three Dollar Bill Cinema. Regular tickets for the party are $20 in advance, and include the Academy Awards show broadcast on the big screen, hors d’oeuvres, a complimentary drink, and one entry to win fantastic door prizes.
VIP tickets are $35 in advance and include all of the above, plus early admission for a hosted VIP champagne and wine reception, two additional prize drawing entries, and an Oscar gift bag. Tickets purchased at the door are an additional $5.
