Kate, the Lead guitarist and lyricist, has been a hardcore practicing lesbian since she could wink and move her fingers. But the focus of Alabaster lies in the beautiful voices shared between the call and response 3 part harmonies that Kate, stayC and Shane lather down the crowds with. Alabaster’s lead singer Shane is also a lesbian and the back up singer/keyboard player stayC is Bi. The music is what ties the band together, bringing them closer, and personally they hope to see the community out there supporting it’s fellow queer friendly bands more in the up coming year, especially a local band with hard working lesbian led members.
Alabaster is currently getting ready to self release a new EP and hit the Seattle scene again hard!
It will be nice to see how people react to mainstream pop punk done right by in-your-face-queer-friendly-females shoving you the finger and slamming a PBR all at the same time. We are kind of like paramore, hey monday, meets Greenday, and something darker like: In this Moment.
Alabaster moved out here from Chicago almost 5 years ago and are looking to make this, the year.
Alabaster performs an all-ages show with Rebel Strike!, …Is Electric, Rebel Skum and Suburban Vermin on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at El Corazon with show at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 at the door.
