The Rockin’ Horse Dance Barn in Renton is a predominately straight, but gay-friendly dance venue. When the Timberline closed, the owner, Dave Serfling, gave displaced LGBTQ C&W dancers in Seattle a temporary home and many people who currently participate in Rain Country, the local gay C&W dancing organization, still take lessons at the Rockin’ Horse.
On this Saturday, July 25, The Rockin’ Horse will be hosting a C&W dance. The owner is reaching out with a special invitation for the gay community in the Seattle area to attend this event.
The Rockin’ Horse is a fantastic venue with a beautiful hardwood dance floor easily 6x the size of the Cuff, and 2x the size of the Century Ballroom. The pictures on the RHDB home page do not do it justice. The Rockin’ Horse does not serve alcohol, but provides a variety of reasonably priced non-alcoholic beverages.
Rain Country and T-100 have a devoted following of hundreds of gays who enjoy country western dancing and they are urging everyone within their ranks to show up this Saturday. The event will start at 7pm with a lesson in C&W Two Step and the dancing begins at 8pm until about midnight.
The Rockin’ Horse is located at 11820 150th Ave SE in Renton and directions can be found at the Rockin’ Horse’s web site, here. Admission for dancing at 8pm is only $12, and if you arrive earlier for the lesson at 7pm it is $15 for the entire evening.
And now all of the sudden the band that normally performs at the Rockin’ Horse “will be unable to perform this weekend” but the C&W dance will continue as scheduled and owner Dave Serfling be DJ’ing,
and, most importantly….
RAIN COUNTRY IS INVADING!
