The GLBT Bar Association Foundation of Washington (“QLAW Foundation”) will open a monthly legal clinic addressing the legal needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals and couples on July 16, 2009. Volunteer attorneys will meet with individuals for 30-minute consultations to provide legal advice and information. The clinic is free of charge.
The GLBT Legal Clinic is supported by the King County Bar Association Neighborhood Legal Clinic Program, which organizes free clinics on various legal issues throughout King County. The clinic also benefits from support from Equal Rights Washington and QLAW.
Jill Mullins, Chair of the committee spearheading the GLBT Legal Clinic, said “the Foundation is excited to provide this additional legal service for members of the GLBT community in King County.” The Foundation committee is comprised of volunteer attorneys and law students dedicated to expanding legal services for the GLBT community.
Services at the GLBT Legal Clinic will be offered on the third Thursday of each month beginning July 16, 2009, from 7pm – 9pm in Seattle.
Individuals can make appointments to discuss various legal topics including family law, debt and bankruptcy, divorce and dissolution, employment discrimination, and transgender legal issues. Services are available to all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
