Best Resident DJ of 2009 (HiNRG Dance): Seattle is fortunate to have so many incredibly talented DJs within the gay scene but Cuff resident DJ Harmonix, aka Travis Ogan, stands out from the crowd. DJ Harmonix is ahead of his game drawing in large crowds every night he spins in Seattle.
A Portland native, he also is a resident DJ at Red Cap Garage (PDX), and has been chosen to spin for multiple Pride Parties throughout the Northwest including Seattle’s Block Party at Cuff with Kristine W., Portland Pride’s Block Party and Portland’s popular Red Dress Party four different times. He is a staple for The Sister’s of Perpetual Indulgence biggest fundraisers: “Conclave” with Chi Chi LaRue, “Exequatur”, “Tabloid” with DJ Phil B., and “Confessions”.
Circuit Diva Inaya Day called DJ Harmonix the best in his field and even Partylist.com recognized his ability to spin “Pretty Music with Guts” and do it extremely well.
Portland’s Just Out Magazine featured Harmonix back in October:
He plays with the big rings on his hands with a humility and endearing awkwardness. Behind the turntables, this friendly and unassuming fella is DJ Harmonix, widely considered the top DJ in the Northwest—endorsed by, among others, Portland celebrity Inaya Day. Unlike most area DJs, he spins in the distinctive style of the circuit party.
And I had an opportunity to sample some of his CDs mixed outside of the club arena. His passion for circuit is invigorating and pure. Each track seems to take it to the next level, denying us the usual breaks we hear in the nightclub and lifting it as high as he can take us.
And Just Circuit sums him all up:
Working from his heart, Harmonix creates the right blend of styles, moods and textures that has something for everyone. Continuously searching to find the next anthem or underground ass-shaker, Harmonix scours relentlessly to bring his dance floors new music FIRST. But above all, he strives to bring you the best quality in dance music and overall experience. With his roots firmly planted, DJ Harmonix is looking to branch out and share his talents and gifts with the world.
DJ Harmonix spins every month at Cuff Complex on Seattle’s Capitol Hill, visit www.demandharmonix.com for more info.
