Controversial comedian Paula Poundstone will make two special appearances: First at The Moore Theatre on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 8pm and also at the Mt. Baker Theatre in Bellingham on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 8pm.
The abrasive Paula Poundstone, a self described asexual, won the American Comedy Award for Best Female Stand-Up Comic back in 1989 and made regular television appearances throughout the 90’s until her personal life took a turn for the worse in 2001.
Her troubles included an arrest for committing a lewd act on a minor and child endangerment when she took her own adopted children on a drive for ice cream while she was intoxicated leading to probation and alcohol rehabilitation. Shockingly her troubles have actually served as material for her own comedy routines. Even South Park and Family Guy have poked fun at her troubles.
She made it on the list of Comedy Central’s “Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time” and Maxim’s “Worst Comedians of All Time” but her career has made an amazing rebound since 2001. She released her autobiography There’s Nothing in This Book That I Meant to Say in 2006 and her first comedy CD “I Heart Jokes” in 2009. If you can make it up to the show I would expect this will not be your ordinary stand-up routine.
Tickets for Paula Poundstone are $35, visit www.stgpresents.org for more info. Tickets for Bellingham go on sale Friday January 8 at 10am. Go here more info on that show.
