Just a quick note on the Gay City Library/Referral Line Grand Opening tonight at Gay City. I did some further research (at the SGN) and discovered a couple things. One, the bulk of the library is comprised of the library that was at the LGBT Center and I’m happy that all those donated books have found a useful new home. And secondly, and more importantly, the new Library/Referral Line needs volunteers to help run it. Here’s the blurb from the SGN:
GAY CITY SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR RESOURCE & REFERRAL LINE AND LGBT LIBRARY
Gay City Health Project’s newest program needs your help! They have taken charge of the 323-LGBT community resource line and need your help to make it successful! Some duties include answering phones, connecting people to resources, updating material for their records, checking out books and reshelving. If you are interested, please contact Susan at 206-388-1707 or email her at susan@gaycity.org.
So stop by tonight for their Open House and if you have some free time, consider volunteering and helping them out. Volunteering at a referral line can be a bit slow at times, but I’m guessing you’ll either have access to a computer at Gay City while you’re on duty, or can bring your own and can surf the web in the down times. When it’s NOT slow, you’ll meet all kinds of people and learn a lot about our culture, our city and our neighborhood. If you’ve been grousing that you’re bored and unfulfilled with your life and open to meeting new people and having new experiences, then give Susan a call or send her an email or drop by tonight between 6pm and 8pm.
Resume your positions and back to our original broadcast…
