IGLHRC’s mission is to advance human rights for everyone, everywhere to end discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
Since 1990, IGLHRC has been working on four fronts:
1) Advocating the elimination of discriminatory laws, policies and practices.
2) Supporting the enactment and implementation of anti-discrimination laws, policies and practices.
3) Striving to reduce family, community and state-sanctioned violence.
4) Promoting economic, social and cultural rights.
Cary Alan Johnson, IGLHRC’s Executive Director, is an author and activist with more than twenty years of experience in the LGBT movement and in African social and economic development. He has worked in management positions for Amnesty International-USA, Africare (Rwanda and Zimbabwe), UNHRC (Democratic Republic of Congo), and Planned Parenthood (Southern Africa).
