Last Minute Theater Columns Should Be Avoided…

February 20, 2010• byMichael Strangeways

but I wanted you to be aware that tonight is the closing night for Annex Theater’s well-reviewed and warmly received Penguins, Episode 2 – Roll Away the Rock at 11pm at the Annex Theatre at 11th and Pike on Capitol Hill. You can also check out their Alecto, Issue #1 tonight at 8pm; that show will end its run tomorrow night at 8pm. Check one or both of them out if you can. And, FYI: Episode 3 of Penguins will debut in August. For more info, go to the website.

Sketch comedy lovers will want to check out The Cody Rivers Show at the Theatre Off Jackson either this weekend or next. The Stranger Genius Award winners move on to a tour that crosses the US and Canada after this run and it might be awhile before they’re back in Seattle. There are very few tickets left for tomorrow (Saturday the 20th) but if you hurry you can reserve seats for next weekend. Check them out here.

We got a very sweet email/press release for a show called the Jack & Wood Show playing Monday night, February 22nd at the Rendevous:

It sounds adorable…check it out if you can.

And, I haven’t seen a lot of publicity for this but the “Woman Seeking…” theater group is staging Ed Graczyk’s Come Back to the 5 and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Deanat Richard Hugo House starting next Friday, February 26th at 7pm SHARP (they don’t late seat at Hugo House). The opening night is a benefit for Gilda’s House and Seattle Gay Scene will be there to check it out, (I’ve seen the movie with Cher, as pictured in the movie poster image but never a staged production…should be interesting) For tickets and info go here. The show runs through March 14th.

But, not necessarily in that order.
