Bad Actor Productions and OCTV Skewer “Roseanne” This Month At Open Circle

March 26, 2010• byMichael Strangeways

Every month the kids at OCTV scan through their DVD collections and downloaded Nick at Night and Tivo’d favorites to determine which beloved/reviled classic tv sitcom they’re going to parody for their monthly late night series at Open Circle Theatre, 2222 2nd Ave, upstairs from the Buddha Lounge. This month their gaze has landed on “Roseanne”, the late 80’s debut of comedian Roseanne/Barr/Arnold/”Just call me Roseanne, thank you” and the antics of a liberal blue collar family in a small town in Illinois. (For this small town Midwesterner, this show was a documentary…) This month’s production is directed by Jason Sharp and stars Carrie McIntyre (pictured; photo by Jayson Potter) as Roseanne and Aaron Allshouse as Dan, aka John Goodman. The show runs TONIGHT, Friday March 26th and Saturday, March 27th; doors and bar open at 9.30pm and the show starts at 10pm…And, the cost cannot be beat: PAY WHAT YOU CAN, BOTH NIGHTS!!! (and, yeah, cheapskates, pay them at least $10…actors gotta eat, dammmit!). Sounds like it’s worth a trip to Belltown; check it out. Call for reservations at 206.382.4250.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
