SGS Loves You SOOOO Much, We’re Giving Away Two Tickets to Seattle Rock Orchestra’s Tribute to David Bowie!

March 16, 2010• byMichael Strangeways

The Seattle Rock Orchestra is following up last year’s tribute to Arcade Fire with a new brand new show honoring the “Thin White Duke” Mr Ziggy Stardust himself, David Bowie on Friday, March 26th at 8pm at the Moore Theatre. Featuring a 70 piece orchestra and local guest vocalists and rockers like John Roderick from “The Long Winters”, Jon Auer from “The Posies”, David Terry from “Aqueduct”, Noela Johnston from “People Eating People”, Alessandra Rose from “The Kindness Kind” and many others, this promises to be a one of kind event…I mean, when was the last time you heard “Space Oddity” or “Life on Mars?” or “Changes” performed by that large of an orchestra? This is a must see/hear event for Bowie fans, the next best thing to seeing him in person, and if you AREN’T a Bowie fan, then you are must have something wrong with you…please see a doctor.

Seattle Theatre Group is producing the show and you can get tickets from them, or Tickets.com or in person at The Paramount Theatre box office. The tickets are very reasonable; $15 in advance and $18 day of show. OR, if you are smart and lucky you can WIN two tickets from Seattle Gay Scene! All you have to do is:

  1. Answer the trivia question; do not cheat; do not Google the answer!
  2. Email us your answer along with your FULL NAME, and your city to seattlegayscene@gmail.com by 5pm, Friday, March 19, 2010.
  3. Void where prohibited by law. Giveaway not open to employees, their families, friends or lovers of SGS, STG, SRO, SAC, or any other 3 letter acronym that starts with the letter ‘S’

Now, are you ready? Your David Bowie Trivia Question Is:

Which David Bowie song (and Michael Strangeways’ favorite Bowie song of all time) was memorably covered by Kurt Cobain and Nirvana at the historic taping of MTV’s Nirvana Unplugged?

Ready, set, go….

In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
