Stuff To Do: Monday, March 22, 2010

March 22, 2010• byMichael Strangeways

Need something to do tonight? You can do this: Dirty Deeds @ Pony (1221 E Madison) with DJ Limpwrist “adding to the debauchery that takes place each week”. The DJ starts the debauchery at 9pm.

OR, if you’re feeling a little higher browed you can always do this: Spotlight Night @ The 5th Avenue Theatre and check out info on their participation in the citywide Seattle Celebrates Bernstein Festival…and instead of going to the library to “Learn More About It!” you can thank Mr Blockquote for the following info:

Seattle Celebrates Bernstein!
Over the next four months, an unprecedented consortium of 19 of the region’s leading arts organizations will join forces to celebrate the life and music of legendary American composer Leonard Bernstein. David Armstrong will provide a sneak peek of the incredible potpourri of concerts, theatrical performances, lectures, film screenings and special events that will make up this unique, first-of-its-kind citywide arts festival.

Performing tonight will be Greg McCormick Allen, Anne Allgood, Brandon O’Neill, Matt Owen, Sarah Rudinoff, Billie Wildrick and the Seattle Women’s Chorus among many others and selections from the two Bernstein shows being offered at The 5th Avenue this spring will be highlighted, On The Town(April 11-May2) and Candide(May 25-June13). The event is FREE but you have to pre-register by going HERE…

Finally, if you’re in the mood to relive bad movies of the 80’s, head to Central Cinema and tonight’s screening of Night of the Comet, part of Jason Miller’s BadMovieArt series. It screens tonight at 7pm and get there early; this is a popular film series…everyone loves GOOD Bad Movies!

If that doesn’t keep y’all busy, then I suggest you just hang out in the park or your backyard…it’s ridiculously nice today…and supposed to get even nicer by Wednesday…BBQ, BBQ, BBQ!

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
