Captain Smartypants Celebrates 10 Years and Sensible Shoes Start Walking a New Walk

May 7, 2010• bySeattle Gay Scene

Seattle Men’s Chorus’ Small Ensemble Performs 100 Years (er..actually 10 Years) of Captain Smartypants.

Everyone loves a good Centennial Celebration, right? So Captain Smartypants (CSP) is marking their 10th anniversary in their own special way; they’re celebrating 100 years instead! CSP, Seattle Men’s Chorus’ small ensemble, will perform a series of four utterly ridiculous Town Hall performances May 7, 8, 21 and 22. The wacky troup will reanimate (almost) every fantastical piece they have performed over the past decade –in one show.

Sensible Shoes is a like-minded small ensemble made up of Seattle Women’s Chorus members and on May 8 and 22 at 7pm (just prior to CSPs 9pm shows) Sensible Shoes will sing, dance, and act like never before in their latest production, “Unlaced & Unleashed.”

They’ll, strut their silly, sexy saucy stuff onstage in a brand-new show, with selections ranging from Queen and The Beach Boys to Nelly Furtado. They have added a whole mess of sparkling original pieces and, just to top it off, international burlesque sensation Sydni Devereux will add her scintillating magic to the mix. Eric Lane Barnes, is the trepid leader of Captain SmartyPants and co-directs Sensible Shoes with Lori Surrency.

All performances are downstairs at Town Hall (1119 8th Avenue, Seattle), with tickets $20-$35 available at www.flyinghouse.com.
