Jesus, Mary and Joseph Fiennes; there is a LOT of stuff going on this weekend in Seattle…hopefully, sunshine will be one of those things! Mr Strangeways is tired of having to have his space heater on in the evenings…
I already plugged them once, but I’ll do it again. The German Cabaret act known as The Love Markets have a big, cool gig tonight at ACT. If you love the musical/movie Cabaret or old Deutschy songs sung by Marlene Dietrich, then you’ll really love these Markets…you can check out lead singers Angie Louise and Nick Garrison and the rest of the band, tonight at 8pm in the Bullitt Theatre at ACT…tickets are only $12! Don’t be a Scheisskopf; go and be dazzled by the glories of the Weimar era, (before the Nazis effed everything up…)
If you’re not in the mood for Weltschmerz and more in the mood for arty-farty, Factory made films starring a bunch of hipsters stoned out of their minds on speed, then check out tonight’s screening of Andy Warhol’s Vinyl in the Plestcheeff Auditorium at the Seattle Art Museum as part of their Directed by Andy Warhol film series which is in conjunction with love fear pleasure lust pain glamour death-Andy Warhol Media Works now on display at the museum. The film screens tonight at 7:30pm and you can buy day of show tickets at the museum for $7, or buy pay $25/22 for members to see all four films in the series…(it continues with My Hustler on 6/18 and Lonesome Cowboys on 6/25). This is a short film; 66 minutes, and stars Edie Sedgwick and Gerard Malanga in a loose adaptation of A Clockwork Orange, made 6 years before the Kubrick version. Malanga, pictured here with Nico in a shot from Chelsea Girls, was just as hot as Warhol’s other big Superstar, Joe Dallesandro, in my opinion…check him out in all his Warholian glory and make the comparison yourselves…
For those of you looking for CONTEMPORARY entertainment, and craving some music, AND not really minding if it’s for a good cause, then you’ll want to check out the annual Noise for the Needy music festival which is going down right now in venues all over the city with a very diverse group of musicians…and, for queer fans of local music who want to experience it in a queer space you can head on down to the Wildrose on Saturday night to check out The Redwood Plan(pictured), Watch it Sparkle, Nigh TraiN, Butts and DJ Justin Case…buy your tickets here; they are only $8! This year the festival will benefit Teen Feed which aids homeless youth and you can also attend shows at The Tractor, Neumos, The Vera Project, Chop Suey, The Comet, Sunset Tavern and Mars Bar…check the site for line-ups, dates, and times…and donate generously to Teen Feed.
