Your Daily SIFF 2010: The Last Shout

June 15, 2010• byMichael Strangeways

The producer, Jesse Archer, and director, Casper Andreas at the Gay La screening of Violet Tendencies…and that is the LAST time I will EVER mention that film…it’s going in the vault of “Things I Wish NEVER to Have to Write About”…Photo by Kelly VanArsdale.

Proof that anyone can crash a SIFF event, even random drunk Eurotrash at the Edward Norton Tribute…disgusting. (in reality, it’s beloved SIFF interns, Gaetano and Carlo, aka, “The Neapolitan Gangsta” and “The Italian Hillbilly”. And, no they aren’t gay; just European…I’ll miss my little Metro #8 co-commuters when they have to leave…)Photo by Kathy Ann Bugajsky.

More stars at SIFF: ex-Superman Brandon Routh in town to promote Miss Nobody…he is ridiculously handsome to the point of looking like he was ordered from a Japanese sex doll catalog…also: is he, or isn’t he wearing make-up on the Red Carpet? Discuss. Photo by Kathy Horsfall.

Everyone on Capitol Hill knows this beloved trendsetter, but I don’t know his name, (I call him “Rainbow Man”). Here he is in all his Technocolor glory at the screening of Hipsters. Photo by Victoria Holt.

Some strange homo who needs to get his teeth whitened poses with the adorable SIFFTV hostess who’s name I have stupidly forgotten, but she is ADORABLE! Taken at Re-bar by the also adorable Shauna Hargrove.

Adrian Ryan’s new girlfriend, America Ferrera came to town with her director Ryan Piers Williams and co-star Ryan O’Nan to promote their film, The Dry Land. Photo by Kathy Horsfall.

The Rat City Roller Girls either really enjoy being on the red carpet at the Gala Opening film, or, maybe they’ve just had a Mentos…Photo by Kathy Ann Bugajsky.

It’s the very adorable Three Dollar Bill Cinema’s Rachael Brister (left) and friend at Re-bar. Rachael, Les Sterling from SIFF and I created a new film festival on the sidewalk outside Re-bar; it’s called SQUIMF…Seattle Queer Underground Independent Movie Festival. Details coming soon…Photo: Shauna Hargrove

Gettin’ down in the drizzle on the deck at Pony for the Undertow after party. Photo: Shauna Hargrove

The adorable Topp sisters, Jools and Lynda at the screening for their film, Topp Twins. I’m guessing that Jane Lynch will play them in the eventual bio-pic…Photo: Kathy Ann Bugajsky.

Zombies invaded Capitol Hill for the latest “Living Dead” film screened at Midnight at the Egyptian…This zombie needed a nosh at Boom Noodle before hand…Photo by Victoria Holt.

Last day of the festival working at Pacific Place, Box Office Manager Jody Cole and I came up with a way to sell the rest of the catalogs…Photo by Michael Strangeways.

Close up of the new promo…Photo, also by ME!

It’s over…I’m both happy about it, (because I was exhausted balancing three jobs) and sad, because I have to say goodbye to some SIFF friends…Ciao to you all.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
