Let’s All Go To The Movies, Part One: Peaches Christ bringing “All About Evil” to the Egyptian Saturday night at Midnight!

July 15, 2010• byMichael Strangeways

Legendary San Francisco drag provocateur Peaches Christ has been thrilling/chilling audiences for years with her outrageous stage act, not only in San Francisco but in cities all over the US including numerous appearances in Seattle. But, live appearances happen in the moment and once Peaches left the building there wasn’t a way to recapture those incandescent moments of hilarity…until now. Under the guise of her alter ego, Joshua Grannell, Peaches has written and directed an instant camp classic, comedy/horror film they’ve dared to call, “All About Evil”. Starring Natasha Lyonne as Deborah, a young woman who inherits a movie theater and desperate to keep it afloat, begins filming a series of gory short horror films that soon “cultivates a rabid legion of San Francisco gore fans who help catapult her to new-found local celebrity…” But, what her fans and the authorities don’t realize is that Deborah has gone over to the dark side; the macabre deaths portrayed in her films are REAL murders that Deborah has committed and lovingly captured on film! Co-starring Thomas Dekker, Noah Segan and iconic cult actresses Mink Stole and Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson, All About Evil is a tongue in cheek, twisted black comedy that pays loving homage to not only the horror/gore genre of film but to the culture of classic movie houses and the fringy cult films those cinemas have championed over the years and the fan communities that grew up around those films and those cinemas.

And, in a daring platform release schedule, (SF a couple weeks ago, LA last week) Peaches is bringing “All About Evil: The Peaches Christ Experience in 4-D!” to Seattle, this Saturday, July 17 with MULTIPLE party events to experience. The fun starts at 8:30pm at Pony with a pre-show party featuring performances by Ben de la Creme, Amoania, Ade and many more as well as drink specials and prizes and giveaways. The fun will continue at The Egyptian with the actual screening and stageshow with hosting duties by Peaches Christ herself and local diva Sylvia O’Stayformore and featuring the Midnight Mass Players and the Bacon Strip Collective. And, Peaches encourages the audience to dress up in their finest “gore couture” to participate in “The Parade of Evil” with the winner to be awarded numerous prizes and accolades. Tickets are still available for this Exploitstravaganza at the Landmark Cinemas website…tickets are only $13 and this is a 21+ event/I.D. required. You would be foolish to miss it…

In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
