Yup…it’s time for another FREE outdoor movie at Cal Anderson Park this Friday courtesy of the fine folks at Three Dollar Bill Cinema, the purveyors of the wonderful and not that far away Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival (coming up in October). Until then, you can satisfy your itch for cinematic fun at Cal Anderson with Friday’s screening of the Eighties “Classic”, Desperately Seeking Susan, the comedic romp starring Rosanna Arquette as a bored housewife caught up in a madcap race through New York’s boho scene and a hunt for some stolen jewels. But, the film is most famous for introducing Madonna to the cinenmatic world and it’s one of the few non-stinkeroo movies she’s made; it’s actually funny and entertaining, unlike say Shanghai Surprise, Body of Evidence or Swept Away…PEEEEE-YOU!!! The show starts at dusk (8:30ish to 9pm) but show up a bit earlier to get your prime seating. Oh, and don’t forget the final entry in this summer’s “Blonde But Not Forgotten” outdoor screening series, the family friendly Candleshoe with everyone’s favorite “Almost but not entirely out of the closet” lesbian icon Jodie Foster…it goes down on August 27. Check them out!
