7 Reasons I want to go to New York…they involve Patti LuPone, Joanna Lumley, Charles Busch and Pee Wee Herman…

What could be a more amazing theatrical experience than seeing the iconic Charles Busch in a  new play!
And, one that he wrote! And, it’s a spoof of nun movies!  And, he’s the head nun! With a secret! Amazing!
Here he is, with Amy Rutberg as the novice, in “The Divine Sister”.

The new musical version of Almodovar’s “Woman on the Verge of  Nervous Breakdown”
with Brian Stokes Mitchell as Ivan, legendary diva Patti LuPone as Lucia and Justin Guarini (yep, the American Idol guy) as Carlos. Not pictured, the awesome Sherie Rene Scott as the lead, Pepa.

OK, technically this isn’t in New York YET, (just opened in Toronto, prior to New York opening March 2011)
and, it’s just fluff but it should be fun fluff…Nick Adams as Adam/Felicia in “Priscilla: Queen of the Desert”

Patsy Stone on Broadway!!! OMFG!
From left to right, the amazing trio of Mark Rylance, Joanna Lumley and David Hyde Pierce in the revival of David Hirson’s 1991 play, LA BÊTE. Yes, it’s a comedy.

History made young, sexy and rock-ish: the hot new musical, “Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson”.

This show was developed by the brilliant New York-based experimental company Les Freres Corbusier.
Aren’t career comebacks wonderful? Pterry, Pee Wee and Friends in “The Pee Wee Herman Show” LIVE on Broadway!
What an awesome world we live in!

I’ve already mentioned The Signature Theatre Company’s revival of Tony Kushner’s “Angels in America” once this week.
But, it IS the most important American play of the last 20 years, so I think it warrants a second mention.
Here’s Robin Weigert and Christian Borle in the big “money shot” scene…
yes, there ARE angels…and, they are kind of horny.

I do have one question…You have to admit that the Broadway theater scene is…uh…well…pretty damn GAY!
What do visiting Tea Party types go and see when THEY visit the Great White Way?

Oh…that answered my question…
