Tonight kicks off the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival’s final weekend, and it’s the first night for films at AMC’s Pacific Place 11 and the much loved Central Cinema.
Scandinavian Imports
I imagine that Scandinavia is a pretty nifty place to be if you’re queer. You have marriage equality, hunky blonds and some pretty spectacular dance-pop, not to mention a certain 4-letter international pop phenomenon. This short program will certainly either confirm or disprove my suspicions, probably both.

The Fish Child directed by Lucia Puenzo
Word around town is that this Argentinian import is the film to catch at this year’s festival. Richly beautiful with a touch of magic realism, it is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
7:30pm Pacific Place
Your ticket for this film includes admission to the Festival’s second Centerpiece Party, which will be catered by Il Fornaio in the Pacific Place atrium. The party starts at 9pm.
Rock Hudson: Dark & Handsome Stranger directed by Andrew Davies and Andre Schafer
It takes a pretty incredible actor or at least an incredibly good looking one to command the screen when sharing it with leading ladies like Liz Taylor, Doris Day and Lauren Bacall. For that reason Rock Hudson will always be adored. This documentary explores the impact Hudson’s public coming out as gay and HIV positive has had on the LGBT civil rights movement.

Wilson Cruz (My So Called Life) supports in this charming tale of a woman with a robust and adventurous sex-life tracking down the father of her child, with unexpected and comedic results.

Violet Tendencies directed by Caspar Andreas
This film by festival favorite, Caspar Andreas (Big Gay Musical), returns to Seattle after screening at SIFF. The film’s big draw is of course lead actor Mindy Cohn, who I just learned is the godmother to all of Brad and Angelina’s children. Isn’t that weird? 9:45pm Admiral Theater
