Entre Hermanos is dedicated to: “To promote the health and well being of the Latino Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and questioning community in a culturally appropriate environment through disease prevention, education, support services, advocacy and community building.”
They’re a great group and they are having their 15th Anniversary Party this Saturday, October 23 from 1pm to 4pm at the Yesler Community Center, 917 E. Yesler Way, at Broadway. Join them for cake and a Quinceañera waltz…and maybe a little donation? Every non-profit could use a little love…
You can continue the fiesta spirit by going to see the film that Entre Hermanos is co-sponsoring at the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, Undertow, which plays Saturday, Oct 23 at 7pm at Pacific Place Cinemas. I talked about Undertow yesterday, but it is an amazing film and you need to check it out. Here’s the info:
How long can true love be concealed under conservative traditions? In a Peruvian seaside village, happily married Miguel looks forward to the impending birth of his first child with his wife Mariela. At the same time, he is carrying on a clandestine affair with Santiago, a handsome, sensual painter ostracized by the local villagers. As the story takes an otherworldly turn, Miguel must choose between challenging the time-worn values of his village and harboring the secret of his dual nature. Stunning scenery and an engrossing romantic twist will sweep you into this multi-award-winning film. Copresented by Entre Hermanos
The director, Javier Fuentes-Léon will be in attendance, (Note: I met him at SIFF this year; he is an amazingly talented, and, ahem, attractive man…chat him up.) Sadly, the two very easy on the eyes stars of the film, Manolo Cardona and Christian Mercado will NOT be in attendance…but, plenty of wonderful people should be, at the film, and at the after party at Design Within Reach, 1918 First Avenue which starts at 9pm. You need a ticket to the film to go to the party, so book yours NOW!
