Is it because of “Glee”? Choral music just seems to be getting hotter and hotter and the audiences are coming out in droves to support it so it makes perfect sense that the Seattle Women’s Chorus is moving to Benaroya Hall for their annual autumn concert this coming Saturday and Sunday, October 16-17. The theme, and title, of this year’s show is “We Are Family” and it promises to:
…celebrate all types of families and is part of this year’s Lesbian and Gay Film Festival produced by Three Dollar Bill Cinema. Songs will showcase the whole range of familial connections and will feature material from Rosie O’Donnell’s HBO documentary film A Family is a Family is a Family. The nine women ensemble Sensible Shoes will perform three numbers and a special young guest, Dylan Martorano from Village Theatre’s KIDSTAGE program will enlighten audiences with the child’s perspective when he performs, Two Mothers…Songs will include Broadway selections by Sondheim and Rodgers & Hammerstein, original compositions, ballads by Holly Near, classic anthems “Everything Possible ” and upbeat pop numbers like “We Are Family.” With or without your own family in tow, it’ll be a great time.
The Saturday show is at 2pm and the Sunday show is at 7:30pm. For tickets and more information, go to Seattle Women’s Chorus website.
