We make no secret that we love James Franco. The actor isn’t afraid to take risks with his projects and works on everything from big budget CGI movies to tiny little art films to appearing on “General Hospital” and calling it “performance art”. And, he’s always pushing boundaries and he’s not afraid to tackle queer or genderqueer parts and projects. He’s got two big movies opening this fall, Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours where he gives a tour de force performance as Aron Ralston, the real life story of the man who amputated his arm after being trapped under a rock while hiking in the wilderness, AND the bio-pic Howl, where Franco portrays iconic gay poet Allen Ginsberg, (despite not looking much like the cute but chubby writer). To promote Howl, Mr Franco posed for these provocative photos for noted photographer Terry Richardson for the cover of “Candy” the new genderqueer lifestyle magazine.
We think James makes a lovely lady…he has the cheekbones for it. Howl opens October 29 at Northwest Film Forum and there’s going to be a party for the film at Lobby Bar. Haven’t heard the exact time and date for it, but we’ll keep you posted. (No, Mr Franco isn’t coming; he’s busy working on the “Planet of the Apes” re-boot/ prequel…)
