The Queen of L.A. has an excellent publicist…diva/comedienne got a spread in the Los Angeles Times and it’s not about her glamorous show biz career. She’s got a 13 page spread in the “Living” section of the paper/website about her fabulously decorated Highland Park home! Girlfriend has a design aesthetic as big as her hair! I especially love the skull lamp and the shrine to Stephen King’s “Carrie”.
From the curb, it looks like just another 1949 California ranch house. But walk past the plastic skulls planted in the flower bed several Halloweens ago and the American flag rippling in the breeze, and there it is, in your face: a lipstick-red front door monogrammed with a gold J and B. Jackie Beat, queen of all queens in Los Angeles’ drag circuit, has dressed up a once-boring Highland Park bungalow as a palace of vintage style, a house that throws on a wig and a gown 365 days a year.
And, local Jackie Beat fans are in luck because the Diva is heading to Seattle on December 9 for a Christmas themed show at Julia’s on Broadway. Titled “Jackie Beat’s All-You-Can-Eat Christmas” it promises to be a heap o’fun…
It’s that time of the year again! Time to do what we Americans do best! Worship the God of our choosing? Celebrate with friends and family? Show gratitude for our many blessings?
HELL NO! IT’S TIME TO EAT, BITCH!
So put on some stretch pants, plop your fat ass down at the table and shamelessly feast upon drag superstar Jackie Beat’s annual spread! Pile your plate high with a heapin’ helpin’ of hilarious new material, a few side dishes of holiday classics and then drown it all in Jackie’s gorgeous gravy! (Don’t worry, those lumps are just glitter!)
Who cares if we’re still at war and the unemployment rate is sky-high? The only question you need to ask yourself around this time of year is, “Breast or a leg?” (And with Jackie Beat, there’s no need to choose!)
