Hello Kids! I hope your Halloween was as spectacular as ours was.
We started off the Pre Holiday celebration by going to Trannyshack at Chop Suey. If you where there you would know what an amazing show it was. My inspiration for Bacon Strip comes from Heklina and Trannyshack cast-off characters. I first heard of Trannyshack in 97 when I was moving to Seattle and wondered about it and how I could create a Seattle version. About 6 years ago I was able to finally go and see Trannyshack. After spending a wonderful weekend down in San Francisco with the girls from Trannyshack I decided to start something like it up here but with my own special twist. Bacon Strip was born. We just celebrated our 5th year at Rebar and look forward to next 5 years. Thanks Seattle for all of your support.
Hecklina has since closed down the weekly show and now does a special event Trannyshack nationwide. She comes up to Seattle twice a year now usually with a couple of her locals tagging along. I love it when they bring it here because it ends up being an inspiration for our local Seattle Girls who are invited to perform and we get to see out of town talent that we probably would never have been exposed to. For example, we had Ethel Merman; she dresses like Ethel but sings rock songs in Ethel’s style. Fade Ra all the way up from LA literally spray paints her makeup on stage. The theme was Halloween so Kerry Darling and I did “Love Somebody” by Doris Day and he played the vampire from Twilight and I played myself being hard to get.
I hosted the first ever Capitol Hill Halloween Parade & Costume Contest. The numbers were light but we had a bunch of fun peeps show up for the costume contest and then we went down Broadway in a Parade form. It was really loads of fun. Look for next year’s parade and costume contest The Capital Hill Chamber of Commerce will be making it bigger and better every year. Thank you to the Chamber for letting me be part of the first one and I look forward to being part of 2011’s.
Trailer Park Mall
While going to my music store down in Georgetown a couple of weekends ago, The Italian and I stumbled on a very fun place. The Trailer Park Mall, an alley filled with vintage trailers that sell everything from vintage knick knacks and clothing, to food venders like Halava, Whereyaat, and Tandoozy. I love it! I guess they are even thinking of having events down there to draw customers. Right now they are only open on Saturdays from 10 – 4. I assume hours will depend on business and holiday needs. What a great place to get some fun things and meet some very fun people.
The alley is right behind Jules Maes, a saloon on Airport Way. Look for the signs that point to the trailer park mall. For some fun holiday gift ideas check out the their website at www.georgetowntrailerpark.com/ and my friend’s direct trailer site www.shopfrida.com/.
Bake Sale
Barbie at Purr has asked me if I would come and hostess a bake sale for her on November 21 at 3 pm. It will be benefiting the food bank of West Seattle Senior Center, helping seniors who don’t have enough money to enjoy the Thanksgiving season. A blue ribbon winner from Snohomish County will be baking one of his prize winning pies. Should be a hoot and holler. So come on down the Sunday before Thanksgiving and join us for some great food and fun. Bring your favorite holiday dessert to sell and come enjoy the new Makers Mark 46 Cocktail. Holiday movies will be playing while you enjoy your cocktail and purchase your holiday treats.
Last month I created a new introduction for our baconstripvideos.com channel. Take a look and let me know what you think.
Well, that’s it for this week’s installment. I hope to see you kids out at all the holiday shows that are starting up this month. More on my Holiday schedule on my website www.stayformore.com
Thanks for dropping by!
