World AIDS Day is next week, Wednesday, December 1 and there are several events to mark the occasion.

The 23rd Annual World AIDS Day is next Wednesday, December 1 and several events are planned to mark the  occasion and to both remember the 25 MILLION people lost to the disease and to rally to the cause to continue the fight against HIV/AIDS. Four local organizations are teaming up for the  7th Annual World AIDS Day Luncheon: Multifaith Works, Gay City Health Project, Seattle Counseling Service, and Dunshee House. And, more than ever, this yearly benefit is an important tool in the war against HIV/AIDS. The stagnant world economy has led to budget shortfalls across the board, and all agencies, both in the public and private sectors, are in desperate need of money to continue offering services to those with HIV/AIDS and to continue the search for a cure. Registration – 11:15 am
Lunch – 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

The luncheon is complimentary, however this is a fundraiser and donations are encouraged.

Emcee: Joyce Taylor of King 5 News

Parking: There will be a flat $6 fee for parking at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center during the luncheon. For directions to the Washington State Convention and Trade Center parking garage, please go to for interactive directions to the general parking lot.

Menu: We will be serving a delicious lunch with accompanying beverages and desserts. If you have any food allergies or require a vegetarian meal, please make sure to alert Marcus White at mcw@mcwevents.com. You will also be able to let your server know at the time of the luncheon.

But, you have options for that day…skewing a little younger and hipper, the Dunshee House is also putting on Rock The House – World AIDS Day Benefit Concert at the Hard Rock Cafe on December 1. This event is emceed by Sister VixXxen and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and entertainment will be provided by musical guests Purty Mouth, Lushy featuring Lynval Golding of the Specials, and DJ Hefe. It also features a raffle with some amazing prizes, including airfare tickets provided by Alaska Airlines, hotel rooms, and gift baskets full of loot from the event sponsors. It’s all happening on December 1 from 7pm to 11pm at the Hard Rock Cafe, 116 Pike Street in Downtown Seattle.
