It’s Day Six of the 17th Annual Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival and it’s “Take Action Tuesday” featuring 5 screenings that combine social activism for the LGBTQ community and terrific cinema.
The life of local actress Kate Fleming is celebrated in the documentary film, “For My Wife” screening as part of the SLGFF.
The day kicks off at 5:45pm at Northwest Film Forum with a FREE screening of the locally made “For My Wife”, the moving story of a Seattle woman, Kate Fleming, who died as a result of the 2006 flooding in Madison Valley, and the struggles of her partner to be at her bedside in a local hospital. The 60 minute screening will have guests in attendance.

This pairing of inspiring short documentaries celebrates out individuals working to make a difference in their communities and the world through their advocacy for LGBT rights, free speech, and justice.
United in Anger: A History of ACT UP

Unfit: Ward vs. Ward

Who is more fit to raise a child: a convicted killer or a lesbian? This shocking story of bigotry and betrayal in the justice system was named Best Documentary at the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
You can also attend this evening’s reception at St. John’s, 719 East Pike (the old Rosebud) starting at 9pm to mingle with filmmakers and other film goers.
