We’re still licking the wounds from one of the best years of Seattle Pride, but Grand Marshal Aleksa Manila is gearing up to host Tacoma, WA’s Official Pride Block Party on July 12th at The Mix. You may remember my six reasons for attending their 6th Anniversary Party and those reasons still hold true. But, if you thought their anniversary got buckwild, get ready for PRIDE.
Ms. Manila is back for her second year hosting the festivities that feature the beloved Kim Archer Band, someone named FLORIDA, and Tacoma’s own Stephanie Anne Johnson. If you remember, Stephanie was recently on the fifth season of NBC’s The Voice singing her damn heart out. Sadly, she lost, but she won the hearts of many across America.
Elsewhere, there’s going to be a big gay drag show later that evening. Yours truly will be performing and I’ll be joined by Tacoma staple Aphelia Bottom, everyone’s favorite bio-pastry queen Cannoli, as well as a slew of other drag performers to include: Dominique D’Amour, the reigning Mr. Gay Washington Charlie Menace, Diamond Tyde, Selena Veyron, and Rychard Le’Sabre.
As for the DJs that will be spinning the night away, Bret Law of Seattle/Hollaback Thursdays at Neighbour’s Nightclub, will be making your booty bounce and they’ve also got two other spinderellas named Eliot Lipp and Essbee. The Mix’s 6th Annual Pride Block Party is next weekend on July 12th from 3pm-4am (dass a long time!) with a $10 cover at the door.
